Galway Public Library wins Target Community Arts & Culture Grant

Date: June 22, 2010

Subject: Galway Public Library wins Target Arts & Culture Grant for 2010-2011

Galway Public Library has joined with Target in recognition of its efforts to provide unique arts and cultural programming.

The library’s  artist in residency series for 2010-2011 will invite a painter, sculptor and a musician to work on site with our K-12 student populations to develop art ( paintings, sculpture, music) recognizing the rich heritage of the communities in our library patron’s service districts.

The Target grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that equals more than $3 million every week.
